You could easily turn this into a legal prank and obtain the same 'clout' without risking anything.

Just go to manager, ask him if he's up for a little game upfront, explain to him you are going to try steal something using a new method, so he can test his system.

After you pass, you return items and explain the game as per deal with manager.

You get a fancy video. They get some food for thought. Manager gets some fun.

But no, you need to go for a win/lose. Well then.
