Whites as well. I was there for a while and there are Japanese-only places. I respected them, as I expect others to respect my own family-only places.

I was in Japan for 6 months for temporary work when I was younger. I always understood I was a guest in their land, and just like being a guest in someone's house there are certain places you are not invited to enter.

Assuming you inherently have claim to all of another's personal space is one of the faults of modern morality.
