I don't understand why the Church were so afraid of witches and were killing them. They were just illiterate women, maybe with mental problems. Were they hunted because jewesses?

Ironically, people who mention witch hunts/witch burning in an attempt to make European history and culture look bad never seem to mention th' fact that th' only places in th' world that still kill people for being "witches" are Africa and th' middle east.
But anyway, they hunted "witches" because they believed in witches and their evil. Admittedly, It was bad times in Europe back then and people back then were dumb savages.(not that people are much smarter now.)
A lot of people claim that fairy tale villains such as witches and dragons and giants and such are based on jews and thier stereotypes, but...
Th' only similarity between them is being sinister and greedy.
Th' average fairy tale giant/dragon would probably consoom jews for breakfast.
