The Last Radio Message From Stalingrad

February 3rd, 1943

"Hello! Is anyone there? There are six of us left, from the whole division. We have not eaten for a week and have been holding here for days. I have just shot my pistol's last bullet. Within a few minutes, thousands of Bolsheviks will get in and kill us. Please tell my father I have carried out my duty.

Long live to Germany!"

Unfortunately less honorable was the decision to put them there in the first place. Stalingrad was a fuck-up mired in the Sunk Cost Fallacy.

Yeah. Agreed. Kind of wondering what the untold political/military strategy was in play there

I remember listening to a podcast called 'ghosts of the Ostfront'. This was before I was a noticer, but I was thoroughly depressed by the end of it. I guess deep down I instinctively knew that the good guy lost WW2.
