The Sephardi basically *are* the same ethnicity as the Palestinians though, and I highly doubt the Ashkenazi are actual Hebrews either (unless Germans and Slavs are the real Hebrews, as thats whom the Ashkenazi seem to be mongrels of )

Ashkenazi come from the area of Ukraine. When Christians and Muslims started to project power into that region, threatening their banditry of the silk road, they converted to Judaism and subverted the elite of Europe and the Islamic world.
