Same with sportsball.
Though I thinks the whole game watching phenomenon (Which I am also guilty of, I like watching boss compilations to get a sense if the game is any good and whether or not its story is retarded) is more of result of people not having the money to buy said game but still wanting to see if its good or not.
Oh, and of course the whole fake-friendship angle, because social media has destroyed a generation
