It's indicative of a peaked civilization that's been coddled by peace and comforts for far too long. They've never experienced violence or actual hardship, so they keep broadening their field of "woe is me" and their view of "ultimate suffering/wrong/evil" to greater and greater minutiae, to trivialities that strong people are able to easily brush off their shoulders and not think twice about. "I disagree with you" is now equated with literal violence from these weak excuses for humans, and it completely ruins them.


It's also another layer of control, to police people's thoughts and speech, to shame, punish, and force adherence to globohomo. Even disagreeing is seen as "the worst thing ever".
