I was watching some kids on the schoolyard, group of boys, mostly White, one Black. They were doing something a teacher didn't like (don't remember what, probably touching grass) and she was scolding them. The White boys were keeping their mouths shut but the Black kid kept spouting "I didn't do anything" over and over.

Didn't do anything to help him, and was actually drawing attention to him, but it was like some kind of program he couldn't resist.

They are taught to say that because it's the best strategy in the vast majority of cases.
If you're accused of a crime, admitting your guilt is suicide. You must deny everything

For example in Europe when someone posts something anti-troon or racist on social media they police comes to your house and says something like "*You posted XYZ. Maybe you didn't mean to be offend, but do you see how this could be considered offensive by some people?*" and you instinctively say "*yes sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone, I apologize*" thinking that it would help you. In reality, you just confessed and now they have enough evidences to put you in jail. They tricked you. If you instead said "I dindu nuffin" (or said nothing) then they wouldn't have enough evidences.

You must do some chutzpah and always deny, deny, deny.
