There really is no logical reason for a man to commit to a woman if not for her ability to have children.
Her beauty will fade, while a man's value in the dating market will not. Therefore you'll be able to find a younger one even when you're in your 50s or 60s.

But more importantly, without the bond which is formed by having children (or at least having the intention to do so) then the attachment is much harder to form.
This is why faggot are never monogamous.
