Its an inversion of that message because it removes Christ completely. Universal Brotherhood is *only* possible in a regimented and hierarchical Christian society, in any society without Christ, Universal Brotherhood is a complete and utter fraud.
And Christ taught *nothing* about equality, in fact most of his teachings repudiate the concept of Egalitarianism, rather calling for those in positions of authority to look out for those beneath them instead of crushing them under foot, but still acknowledging that such authority must exist, as He also calls for slaves to obey their masters, and for masters to remember they too have God above them.
Any attempts to inject Egalitarianism into Christianity revolve around twisting St. Paul's condemnation of schismatic movements into a false condemnation of natural order, while also ignoring literally everything in the new testament.

If the answer to both is "God" then every random nigger is your brother. That's equality.
Christian Brotherhood was laid out in the Good Samaritan parable: whoever *helps you* is your brother. If someone makes himself your enemy, he cannot be your brother, even if he is from your own race.
