Hey bro. Thats how the world actually works. Your dad is a shithead and leaves you to be raised by a single mom? Yea that sucks. Chances are you are fucked. You are punished for your Fathers sins.
It shows true Love when you sacrifice yourself (desires, aspirations, etc) to ensure your offspring are well off and given a Good footing. Thus you inherit the Good from your Father too. But the Good is selfless for he himself does not benefit from it directly except in only self sacrifice.
Yes Christianity preaches this but this literally how the world works. So I dont even need to bring religion into this for you to see it.
