Anybody know how to get rid of a kidney stone?

My friend has a massive kidney stone. I remember a discussion here about gall stones and bladder stones, but what about kidney stones? Lemon juice?

I once had a teeny tiny one and the pain was so bad it made me vomit twice, worst experience of my life.

As far as I know you just have to wait to pass it if it's small enough, and if it's too large it needs to be removed.
