The "Arab Hitler" so to speak. I've got a lot of respect for this man.

Took a backwater country, transformed it into the biggest superpower in the middle east. Free from usury, jewry, Islamic extremism, and western control. Made it into a very comfortable and homogenous society. Improved the economy significantly. Improved the military significantly. All under literal national socialism.

Destroyed for the sin of not letting jews control everything and having a prosperous nation free from (((them))). One of the most lied about men in human history up there with Hitler himself. The world couldn't keep this mans name out of their mouths for years because he didn't bow to kikes. Even had fake gassing stories made up about him. Oh how history repeats itself.

Were the stories about his kids being insane power hungry murderers also made up? Genuinely curious.

Qusay hussein didn't really do that much in all honesty. He was heir apparent to power (either him or Al-douri) and led some military operations. Allegedly, according to (((dissidents))), he killed political opponents. But this is actually unknown.

Uday Hussein was violent and reckless, but a lot of the more insane information about him comes from people who defected to the US, probably with a healthy pay off for propaganda, so it must be taken with a grain of salt.

Remember that movie they made about Uday Hussein's body double that turned out to be 100% made up Holocaust-tier propaganda?

How would he have done it though?

A very large chunk of their military supply (and basically all of their air defense systems and missiles) came from the USSR. The USSR ceased to exist. This is why the US was able to invade Iraq in the first place. The soviet union stopped a potential US invasion by simply existing, and they took advantage of that opportunity as soon as the soviet union was gone.

There wasn't anyone to buy from (Russia was a destabilized and non functioning zombie of what it was during the ussr, it still kind of is) and china was allied with Iran.

Perhaps he should have done it before 1991 to begin with, but then again asking a decaying superpower for that much is a lot.

But hindsight is 20/20 anyways. Hitler should have prepared for a war with the west and should have designated significantly more to the kriegsmarine. But he prepared for operation barbarossa and assumed the west would be willing to negotiate. Likewise, iraq was never prepared for a war with the United States either and never designated anything towards carrying this out until it was too late. Furthermore, the US was already studying everything about Iraq since the 1970s.

The UN trade embargo would be the biggest reason. The reason for not being self reliant is pretty simply a lack of resources. Iron is hard to come by in the middle east which does not produce much besides farmland and oil. Where is iron abundant? The USSR. Iraq had a similar problem to Japan and this is the reason why most Middle Eastern armies are made up of equipment that's bought from somewhere else.

Pretty sure their military comms (CIA backdoored) were bugged out and the Israelis would've gotten the memo.

Also, air defense systems aren't magic. Ask the Ukrainians. They can and do get taken out and then you're toast, esp. when you can't domestically produce them.

True. Iraq actually did have fairly modern GBADs that were effective but the US just studied every single possible loophole to avoid them and executed. Iraq also had issues with centralized command.

The US already knew everything about Iraq before the war even started. Most crucially: Iraq was actually an ally of America in some way not long before desert shield. Allies spy on each other more than enemies because you leave everything open for them with minimal security measures in place against them. Iraq was a far bigger ally of the USSR, but they had a decent relationship with america also. The US knew everything about Iraq's military and Saddam did not think the US would invade after Kuwait in the first place (which Iraq actually had perfectly valid reasons to invade)

Desert shield wasn't just an unjustifiable response to a justified war but it was also a betrayal

Saddam probably knew that iraq was fucked anyways so why not launch ballistic missiles into Israel as a fuck you to the world

Japan knew that the US was going to find a reason to enter the war anyways so why not attack the United states before it's fully industrialized for war instead of waiting for them to be fully ready to enter it
