The original premise does not need to be dismissed because it was never substantiated. I am not trying to stir focus to an irrelevant subject, I am merely illustrating how irrelevant and ridiculous his statement is by making an equally ridiculous and irrelevant statement.
But, again, you need to be able to understand the concept of irony in order to be able to distinguish it from the concept of pedantry (both Greek words, by the way).
