The percentage of the general population who still reads is below 1%. In my generation (Z) it may be lower than 0.5. Men don't read at all, and the few women who do read just consume pulp fiction or smut. Or fucking fanfiction, which is both rolled into one. No joke, fanfiction is probably more widely read among my generation than actual published works.

On the upside, this means that if you do read, you can be sure that you are genuinely exceptional. And please DO read. Video essays on YouTube or podcasts are not substitutes.
