>Normal drugs do not work, therefore, extra drugs
This is the end result of a society that has rejected God and is spiritually dead. We arent supposed to be happy all the time, suffering is a part of life that is there so we can overcome it, not ignore it.

I think it goes further than just rejecting God. I'd like to expand, even though I'm pretty sure you already know this.
The people that embrace these destructive things have actively embraced the antithesis of God. They're openly embracing satanism and satanic philosophy.
For anyone here who isn't a Christian, it's difficult to make this connection (or at least more difficult), but it's there. At the very least, non-Christians need to understand how wrong these philosophies, mindsets, and behaviors are (I imagine most here understand, though).
Hedonism is satanic, objectively wrong, and leads to the corruption and eventual destruction of anyone following it. Aleister Crowley "invented" the cult Thelema, which is little more than a thinly veiled satanic cult. The symbolism for Thelema is just a variant of the star of Remphan (the "star of David" on the Israeli flag). Crowley said "do what thou wilt" is the highest commandment. This is exactly what satan tempts people with, the idea that we can do whatever we want, in defiance of God (truth). In reality, doing whatever we want results in undue suffering, because we're not acting in accordance with truth (God), and we inevitably suffer the consequences of acting in accordance with falsehoods and lies.
"Do what thou wilt" and "just do what makes you happy" (i.e. hedonism) are intrinsically philosophically linked, and also linked by the people espousing them. They're both antithetical to the idea that truth is objective, that right and wrong are absolute, that it's better to act in accordance with truth than to pursue some vague sense of "happiness". Even some good philosophers of the past, in defense of the pursuit of "happiness", have had to be extremely nuanced in how they describe "happiness", for fear of falling into the obvious pitfalls of that idea, when the truth of the matter is much more plain.
Being happy isn't inherently good, and being sad (or pain itself) isn't inherently bad. We're not supposed to be happy when our family, community, society, people, and civilization are being attacked, corrupted, degenerated, lied to, brainwashed, poisoned, and killed. We're supposed to feel pain when we work out and improve ourselves, which is different than the pain we experience from acting in discordance with truth. We're supposed to be tired after a long day of hard work. We're supposed to be sad when something bad happens, like the death of a loved one. Being happy is supposed to be tied to doing or experiencing objectively good things, and feeling bad is supposed to be tied to doing or experiencing objectively bad things (even though suffering for good things isn't related to this).
As humans, as imperfect, finite, mortal beings, it's a requirement that we suffer. We either suffer in self improvement, and in improvement of our communities, which requires prioritization of truth, or we suffer the consequences of acting in accordance with falsehood and lies. The idea of hedonism is to eschew all forms of suffering, labeling all bad feelings as objectively bad, and pursuit of a vague sense of happiness, which always devolves into pursuit of temporary hollow pleasures. This idea, in turn, results in eschewing all forms of self improvement, suffering toward positive things (like working out), and a rejection of objective truth or a prioritization of it. Pursuit of pleasure/happiness also implicitly argues that anything that makes us happy is inherently good, which any good person knows is objectively false, and leads to all manner of degeneracy (degenerate sex, drugs, junk food, porn, and even abuse of positive hobbies, purely for pleasure, ignoring more important works we need to do).
If we're aligned with truth, then our feelings will match the objective result of our lives and actions. Hedonism and "do what thou wilt" are a denial of objective truth and reality, a giant middle finger to God (truth), and an open embrace of satan (lies).
Any good book recommendations? At the moment I'm feeling a little low, either fiction or non that can help get out of a slump. Exercise and healthy diet are a must, this I adhere to already.
I'm not much of a book reader at the moment, which is ironic considering I'm writing two. I'm preferring to focus on finishing my books first, and then probably doing some related reading of ancient philosophers to compare.
Sorry I can't be more help. I'm sure if you ask around ConPro there are a lot of people here that have lists of book recommendations. Get better brother, and God bless you.

For most, weed and/or cigarettes.
For my sister, black tar heroin.
And for my grandma, word searches.
And for me, I am addicted to begging for views on my animations.
