My parents are Gen X but this literally describes them perfectly. In the last two years alone, they must have gone on 4+ cruises. They JUST went on one back in September and IMMEDIATELY booked another one after they got back. Meanwhile, I have a measly $1400 in my bank account while still paying for the last few months of college AND I just got laid off from my part time job. How they can justify constantly going on cruises but not just paying for my college in full without splitting the cost in half with me is beyond my capability to understand.

If they are Gen X, you should tell them that they're pulling a perfect interpretation of the parents from Home Alone. Everyone in that generation saw that movie at least once. The parents effectively forget about one of their kids while they go on vacation. Seems to fit your situation.
