Americans had to be convinced to join the war. Woodrow Wilson even campaigned with the slogan [he has kept us out of war](https://www.ohiohistory.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/He-kept-us-out-of-war.jpg) (i.e., WW1).

Wilson won the election and joined WW1 soon after. Vote against war, get war anyway. See? Voting works!

The Americans, British, and others were also fed deliberate atrocity propaganda like [corpse factories](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Corpse_Factory) to prove the Germans were evil.
