UNICEF: Sexual Violence Against Girls and Boys ‘Alarming’

The violence is highest in the most populous regions of the world, and no area of the globe is exempt. According to the statistics – as a percentage of population sexual violence by region is: Oceana (34%), Sub-Saharan Africa (22%), Latin America and the Caribbean (18%), North Africa and Western Asia (15%), Europe and North America (14%), Central and Southern Asia (9%), and Eastern and Southeastern Asia (8%). But the percentages do not tell the story alone, with almost 80 million girls and women affected just in Sub-Saharan Africa.
