The DNA evidence recovered from the shawl was that of mitochondrial DNA, which is not unique to any one person, it can only exclude suspects, not the other way around. Furthermore, there is no chain of custody recorded for the shawl in question, no record of a shawl being recovered from the scene of Catherine Eddowes' murder, nor any record of Amos Simpson (the officer who claimed to have acquired the shawl) being at that specific crime scene.

While In the course of my own research on the subject, I have come to believe that the Ripper, (if it truly was just one man behind the murders) was a jew, there is frankly no evidence that Aaron Kosminski was ever involved in any of the murders.
