Correct. The franchise/ fandom was sabotaged. Men aren't allowed to have "nice things" anymore. When they saw that the first movie made all the unwashed "chuds" feel seen and understood, they had to squash that ASAP. When *"You get what you fucking deserve!"* became a "weaponized" meme against the Left, that had to be squashed.

The answer is a semi-Musical where the Joker persona becomes the death of Arthur Fleck, where he repents and denounces everything of the first film, and he gets gang raped in jail; and by extension, the "chuds" who identified with Arthur, who saw themselves in him, are gang rapped in jail. The movie was designed to demoralize and shit on the men who found some solace in the first film.

I don't disagree. Bleak, dour and nihilistic. It has moments of genius, but it's not a film you want to revisit.

I saw it once and have no interest seeing the sequel.
