He was literally a known thief who was known as The Jogger for his gimmick where he would stretch in parking lots in a feeble attempt to pretend he was preparing to jog, then would dash into businesses, grab whatever he could, and flee.
He was positively identified as the prowler who was stalking the neighborhood in recently previous days.
He was the one who approached the man with the shotgun, grabbed it by the barrel pointing it towards his torso, and yanked it.
They even falsely convicted the bystander who was merely filming the incident and never approached the actual perpetrator.
