My thoughts are that we should create based games, and then take the shekles, let them have it and then make more based games, just don't sign the non-compete, and don't stay with the company after the sale

AAA quality is falling so much a few based devs could get together, pump out a mostly apolitical Indie game with no GAAS and microtransactions, and find a good way to market it, they could probably make a decent amount of money and get their foot in the door to sell more games.
Funny how you don't really hear about those games.
I hear a ton about garbage like Concord, or Dust Born, or StarWars Outlaws, or even Gollem, even from the toxic fanbase. But I rarely, if ever, hear about small but successful games. Dave Cullen will sometimes talk about some of the fan made films, but those aren't really monetized.
Given I don't have time to pour through Steam looking for gems, but I do have 30 min to watch a video while cooking, is there anyone highlighting or advertising these types of games?
Many studios do paied promotions with videogame streamers, often targetting by ''category''. Ex : one streamer and his audience heavily skews RPG, another one more on colony-builders, and studios try to reach the relevant democraphic for their game.
''Do a video playing the game, here are some guidelines, here is the monetary compensation we offer.''
Mechanistry did, and still does at each significant content update ( and they get a big boost in sales each time ).
But the streamer who made me discover Timberborn did a Let's Play before there was a paied promotion.
If the game is good, it works. If the streamer actually likes the game and does full series, it works better.
Timberborn had sold over 1 million copies *one year ago* and probably sold over 1.5m by now.
Bloated, woke, megastudios can die and good videogames will still be made and sell.
