Bet not many of you knew this. In WWI and WWII, the US interned thousands of Germans, some of which were held until the end of the war. You'll never learn about this in school, only the Japanese internment.

I wonder if they interred Italians too, since they were more "foreign" than Germans.

As a matter of fact they did. They too were forced to have "enemy alien registration cards", 695,000 of them. 231 were detained, and all were released by 1943 when Italy surrendered.
