Only half of israel is actually jewish, but compulsory conscription still applies (except for orthodox jews). I'm sure the jews who actually do have to serve are kept in rear line or logistic positions.

A lot of them go the super religious route deliberately to avoid conscription. They have a big group that reads the Torah all day, doesn't fight, doesn't work, only speaks Yiddish not even Hebrew and basically leeches off the state. It became such an issue that I heard the government basically said there are enough rabbis, now get to fucking work.
