Farmers are not stupid people. One of my mentors is a farmer and a decamillionaire. Farms cows and various vegetables. Literally he's the CEO of an enterprise, only instead of a faggot suit he wears dirty overalls, but when he walks into a boardroom, he doesn't say much and is usually the smartest man in the room.
But to get back to the subject, it's a very smart idea to speak in terms your audience would understand. If Jesus had to speak with athletes, he would have used sportsball analogies.

Go back and read what I said, nowhere did I ever say Jesus had to "dumb it down" for them. I said they had to speak to them in a language they would understand.
This implies that Christianity is a religion for stupid people, which is unintentionally based.
