Wood paneling in a ranch style house hallway... if you look up, you'll probably see an attic fan. You use that most of the time during the summer, but when it gets really hot, you and your siblings sleep on the floor in your parent's bedroom because that's where the window unit is. There's also a small black and white TV next to the sewing machine that receives 3 UHF channels and 1 VHF channel.

Also in the basement is a ping-pong table and/or something that involves "tracks" whether that be slot cars, hot wheels, or model trains. Even though you live in town and your dad doesn't hunt, there is a bolt action rifle in your parent's closet that you pull out and look at when your parents aren't around.

I don't like paint. I just stain and oil wood. Then maybe some polyurethane as semi gloss protection.

Sounds like your worst nightmare would be a house designed by Ernst Kirchsteiger. He finds an old house, usually 300 years or more, then he paint everything inside white. The paint job is well done and all but it's still paint, no "natural beauty" of the type you'd expect in an old nice house. Like turning an old nice house into modernist IKEA design.
I've seen beautiful fire places, where you could tell the mason took his time choosing each brick and color of brick for its character, and some dumb whore real estate agents (whores) tells the home owner paint it grey or white before listing it on market.
I put down beautiful hardwood oak flooring I got for less than a dollar per sq ft, but was mad at myself for staining it a bit too dark.

You know I'm a bit surprised how much white nationalist socialists are dainty with their perfect green lawns, their home decor, their love of housecats. "Oh no I can't have popcorn ceilings errrrrr" lol seems kind of homosexual. Let a woman worry about home decor. I've lived in cabins with dirt floors before.
I haven't cleaned my truck in 20 years. Lol. It's full of tools and I fix stuff when it breaks and it keeps running.
Woman told me recently that men who worry too much about cleanliness or over groom themselves or look like they spent more time getting ready than she did is a huge turn off to her.

If you don't protect your basement from mold, any wall and flooring material is gonna turn nasty, especially carpets. Shoutout to the Brits who for some reason put full covering carpet on the frickin bathroom floor as well as on the lid to the shitter. That's nasty. If you freeze, just install floor heating.

As for the bottom pic, simplistic designs doesn't change much, why fix something that isn't broken. A modern version of the bottom pic would probably involve white walls and hardwood floor with floor heating installed if it wasn't there already.
