This is an inaccurate criticism. A farm was like a factory farm today in that only the wealthy could afford it. A nobleman was of course most often wealthy (unless something caused them to lose their wealth such as their own foolish actions or being invaded or corrupt government).

I mean the average roman nobleman would probably live in a gilded mansion if he could, the comparison isnt exactly incorrect.
