There were proposals to literally replace the roof with a giant swimming pool. The extent and speed of the reconstruction is seriously impressive in the 21st century where even repaving a quarter mile of street has traffic barrels and all but one lane closed for literally 8 months while every time you drive by the street is untouched and all the equipment is unoccupied.

If Trump stops taxing overtime then those roads will get repaired quicker. That sort of line of work regularly requires 50-60 hour work weeks.
