Can you please explain why are they so obnoxious? I thought they're like the Japanese? Given their chinese medicine, nice architecture, and a culture that probably died that used to be based on virtues.

The chinese nationalists led by chiang kai shek were chased out of mainland China by the CCP, the communists, during the Chinese civil war and managed to settle and hold on in Taiwan. Years later we are seeing the prosperity of such a nationalist nation like Taiwan in stark constrast to the commie scum that is mainland China.
