If you raise your own it's like working a job where you pay zero taxes. You don't have to report your own raised and slaughtered chickens as income.

can you raise a chicken in an apartment building? i guess you can since third worlders are coming here and doing it in their 4x4 balconies stinking up the place.. or maybe someone is renting and saving for a house. things aren't always black and white

Chickens don't need much space. You totally can raise them in a typical suburban back yard.
