The only thing that I can criticize him of, is the fact that he didn't inform Hitler of the July bomb plot; And although he refused to be a part of the conspiracy, not telling Hitler could have led to the Führer's death.

But most importantly, throughout the rest of the war, Hitler no longer trusted anyone, and that meant that Generals could no longer act on their own, and no more foreign units were allowed in the SS, especially the millions of liberated USSR citizens that were willing to help.

Hitler was genuinely scared, and rightfully so, and you could say that the war was already over by 1944, but the mental impact that the bomb plot had on Hitler definitely hastened the loss.
