It's so painful to learn just how many people simply don't understand how percentages work and what they mean. To me, they're such an intuitive concept. Really fucking easy, and quite helpful too. But apparently not for some people: I was recently watching a video by a popular science-news channel on YouTube, and the guy, who outwardly had appeared to be moderately intelligent, thought it was a good idea to state in the middle of the video that he uses some fancy percentage calculator website whenever he wants to convert some statistic into a percentage. And he then compared two percentages the website spit out, that, in the context of the video, were not actually comparable to each other. And my jaw literally dropped. I had just watched this man type numbers into a website instead of just dividing them with a calculator or something, because he truly did not understand what a percentage actually was. All respect lost. I will not watch any of his videos ever again. He's a pseudo-intellectual moron.

Moral of the story, there are so many idiots out there.
