I really like your take. I think you're completely on point here. For instance take Great White sharks. Every single marine creature recognizes them as the top of the food chain for thousands of years until a couple of Orcas in California figured out how to hunt and kill them to eat their livers. Now somehow Orcas in South Africa figured it out too and GWs are MIA over there too.
