Something subtle I've noticed is that kids are never bored anymore. As soon as they don't have chores/homework they can instantly jump on screens and be entertained by infinite novelty. When I was a kid, I was always bored. So I read, or went exploring, or built something; either way I had to use my brain, while kids today don't.
It also fuels entitlement when *you* get to chose exactly what you want to see all the time. Why would you put up with the smallest of flaws or mistakes in your friends when you can just ditch them and watch someone you like more? Same with family; why sit with your parents and watch something *you didn't pick* (but which might be something amazing that you'd have never given a chance) when you could grab your personal screen and watch tiktubes? I find my daughter has many friends who refuse to have anything to do with each other, usually because of some minor slight, while my daughter gets along with all of them.
No reason for kids under 5 to be on sceens at all and they should have strict supervision beyond that.
