Towns in Occitania ( Southern France ) have celebrations where ''Carnaval'' is blamed for negative things happening in town, usually in a humoristic tone in a mock trial.

Then after a song with many variations by regions, the wooden old man Carnaval is set on fire.

There used to be a village in France that was literally called “Death to Jews” (La Mort aux Juifs) until 2014, when the (((Simon Wiesenthal Center))) petitioned them to change it.
