Under the hood it's just a cheap PC running a OS based on FreeBSD with games powered by OpenGL.Xbox on the other hand is also just a cheap PC, running Windows with a different UI and games compiled for DirectX.

Both appears o bribe or threaten game developers to get games exclusive for their specific platforms, for if the developers had any balls they could easily just release their games for GNU+Linux and everyone would play on an actual cheap PC, that is a lot cheaper than these consoles without any (((spyware))) or (((DRM))).
