> search engine no longer searching

hey, maybe someone should make a search engine company! They'll literally be the next Google

You bring up a good point -- which speaks to how there must be a larger digital collaboration coming up soon that prevents competitors replacing their plotted goals. TBF we know the entirety of the net is controlled, but what would stop some one rn from building a simple link aggregation site? Denial of service in some way?

Is there just not expectation of sustainable competiton due to all new products being "AI" embedded ie laptops and phones are coming now AI abusive.

You have inspired me to look in to how they may shut down replacements.

yeah it's just like, what if you could just grab the old old old search engine algos from the 2000-2010 when everything wasn't gay and retarded and just crawl websites like how it used to be? I don't understand why it's so hard, especially now with all the cloud computing crap, just make some kuberneties/docker crawler crap with python and feed it to a database, and there's your search engine.

Problem is that the data servers with TLS and hosts, are all owned and operated by the big techs so they deny APIs to bot crawl websites.

Yahoo still exists, and they're too backwards to update anything.

Couldnt these people just sue the AIs for using their information without paying them?

*Could* sue, yes - win, maybe not. This is not like traditional search results snippets (which quoted the source directly).

Let's say you ask me to summarise some topic for you. I read a few articles online and write up an explanation. I link to all my sources, but you might not bother visiting any of those links as you already have what you asked for.

I'm not quoting word for word, and I'm crediting my sources, so what law did I break? That's what AI is doing.

I'm not sure about Google, but Microsoft is very confident about AI being legal - they've promised commercial customers they'll join the legal battle on their behalf, even covering all the damages if the company loses: [Copilot Copyright Commitment for customers](https://blogs.microsoft.com/on-the-issues/2023/09/07/copilot-copyright-commitment-ai-legal-concerns/).

.ru host is one of the only ways to still find A Wyatt Mann cartoons and uncensored Talmud quotes. They've been sanitizing the results lately though.

The point is you will not have a choice. If you think Brave or Yandex is on your side -->

https://brave.com/leo/

https://yandex.com/company/press_center/press_releases/2023/17-05-23

They are not your friends. Never were.

The internet is fake and gay. Web 2.0 bullshit is especially fake and gay.

Public libraries still exist.

True.

If websites can't create traffic, they will die. This will destroy the internet.

the part where the millions of "people" trimming satan's pubic hairs (webdev/programming and more specifically SEO optimization) while he dines out of their empty skulls no longer being able to feed themselves from this surrogate activity is perfectly fine with me.

Wouldn’t this also hurt their ad / minetization model?
pkvi_foundation on scored.co

Not at all.

Isolating data to just the big tech firms will create greater revenue isolation. If the only way you get information is thru their chatbots, then they can serve up ads as results, as app buffers, etc.. and no need to go any where else and share revenue with peasants.

That’s a different ad model.

Current ad model is Google ad words

If the websites shut down then won’t Gemini and others not have the data to provide answers?

The websites they approve will be allowed ie media orgs that produce the information to be regurgitated to chat search, not to be questioned by "misinformation"
