The pagers had a gram of C4 stuffed into them. The battery powered the detonator but the battery itself didn't make the boom.

That's mostly how you know this story is full of shit. The retards actually believe that the batteries exploded. So they think the jews can punch in a magic code and your phone blows off both your hands.

Now it is theoretically possible to blow up a battery with software but blowing it up in this case causes it to rapidly heat, swell, and then burn. Not blow chunks of meat out of someone's leg.

But low IQ people don't understand that so they think it's all batteries that can blow up everywhere at any time.
