No, you don't understand. Rural America NEEDS the city centers because they are the heart of the country. Rural folk would be lost without the cities because the cities provide leadership, ideas, and capital.

If the cities were instantly evaporated, all that the poor yokels would have left is all of the food production and processing, logistics, incalculable swaths of natural resources, and manufacturing.

Is that really the world you'd like to live in?
