The vikings had good ships, strong men and came for the sole purpose of plundering. Illegals arrive on a broken rubber boat bought expensive from an NGO, most of which sink before they even reach mainland Europe.
There's no way back after deportation, borders are closed for new arrivals, especially those with no solid proof of identity such as a passport from a developed country. They check fingerprints and other biometric data. Return and all you get is a cell in the deportation facility and a flight back to whatever shithole you came from, a net loss.
There's no point coming without free gibs. If you don't have identity and citizenship it's a cold expensive country were you can't do anything. No voting, no driving (when caught it's instant deportation, or you'll get shot if you resist arrest), no use of mass transit, no grocery shopping, no hotels. You're fucked without ID. Only native legal citizens gets a pass because you can state your information and the cops can look you up. Digital ID everywhere.
