Probably the easiest way to disprove "socioeconomic factors" and whatnot. If they're helping poverty, where is all the money for the White Appalachians? The Appalachians are a beautiful region, there's a lot of things I'd do if it meant I could go back there.

Money is a bad thing. It will bring development, suburbs, traffic lights, more roads, McDonald's and Bojangles, an extra Walmart, etc

Best thing for white folks is to be left alone.

Why not go back? Any particular area(s)?

Well I can't go back because I'm a minor, we left because my dad's commute was two hours. West Virginia. My life peaked here. The six-year-long depressive phase had not yet started, and that vague, free sense of childlike wonder still permeated my life. Every day, every single one, I'd go outside the second I came back home from school and go hang out with my friends - actual friends, who lived on my street, which had sidewalks and stuff (current residence lacks both people my age and sidewalks entirely) and I'd have hours to do whatever until the porch lights came on. Though I didn't know it, I was probably one of the last people to experience what most people's parents grew up with.
