We definitely need to normalize the concept of violence again. It IS the answer on occasion. Having a whole generation+ of children raised that "violence is never the answer" and zero tolerance policies has fucked us. They'll teach a young girl to not avoid sketchy areas because that's racist, and to tell family where you are and carry a whistle.
In tech I've taken the annual HR bullshit training and I've seen several times "if there is a shooter in the building, barricade yourself and be prepared to throw staplers or heavy objects at them". Fuck that, I have a gun on my hip, I'm going to shoot back.
"Violence is never the answer. Violence is never the first choice" fuck that. If you smash into my house in the middle of the night you are getting 12ga in your chest. The "please don't break in here" was implied at the window.
X and other social media have strict rules against any post advocating violence, including in clear self defense situations.
