I've been to Greece before. I've never been fed more food in my life before, and every restaurant I went to would bring out free drinks, sometimes expensive ones that they clearly lost money for bringing out

last time i've been in Crete in a family restaurant (literally the owner is the father and the daughter is the cook)

he offered me a beer, i declined saying that beer is estrogenic and i prefer liquor instead

he then, promptly offered me his own distillate (Tsipouro) that he's been brewing for **free**, i took him up on his offer

i don't think i've been offered free alcohol anywhere else in Europe

as for the meal, it was suprisingly wholesome, lamb meatballs and Fava--simple homecooking is always the best.
