Back in the days of prosperity of which this arose, this wasn't a big deal. It was called "fun", and white people had time to devote themselves to trivial pursuits such as these.

The problem is that now is not the time, not the act itself.

Consume Product is not meanspirited. Being mean for petty reasons is not the Consume Product way. Lead by example, be the change you want to see.
