That's the thing about working for a FAANG. You're working with A players, and it's super fun playing with other people at your level. Steve Jobs was right when he said A players want to work with A players. That's the one thing I regret. After the FAANG I worked at, the people I work with generally as a whole at every other company are fucking bozos compared to my FAANG. It blows me away that most other companies don't implode due to the everyday incompetence and retardedness of the typical worker drone.

That is good to know. I had about 10 years of non-ambition due to alcohol. I was able to do my job -- probably because it was a lifestyle job. The lifestyle helped me get my shit together. And then I've been trying to figure out since (which is years sober now) what I ought to do now.

Since the thread is pajeets, another truth is that you can hire 2-3 pajeets for one engineer salary at Amazon in Washington. I routinely see job postings for 1/3 of that (let's say) 300k. Whether they are actually trying to hire Americans I don't know. That's a discouraging thing to see in the jobs postings, though.
