Go the fuck outside and look up, take a decent zoom camera with you.
Zoom in and you will see contrails when conditions are right on passenger planes, and you will be able to make out brands with strong logos such a Qantas, the contrails will be at most 10-20 times the length of the plane. That length you will find in old books that talk about contrails.
For stratospheric aerosol injections or spraying (SAI or SAS), the trails will stretch a great deal of the sky and you will sometimes see them turn on and off. They will not follow the same flight paths as the passenger jets. They will appear to be the same size but when you use the camera to zoom in you will discover they are hazy bevause of more atmosphere between you and it and you cannot make out details like if they had a strong logo because like the sun and moon appear to be the same size, one is much bigger and further away.
There was a diagram on NASA'S website about what height "proposed" SAI would "theoretically" take place in relation to commercial planes and it matches up to what you can observe with your own eyes if you just go outside and look up. You will also notice contrails dissipate quite quickly (slower when the air up there is colder and more still) but chemicals will linger and spread and spread until eventually almost disappearing but the sky is no longer bright blue but light blue and hazy.
