Here double-last-names were a fad when it became legal, but quickly fell to below 10%.
People realized that Julien "Laurandeau-Boulanger" and Émilie "Caron-Lacourssière" would be stuck having to make the sensible choice their ''progressive'' parents refused to make and pick ONE last name for the children. ( nearly always the father's )
I know a few ''double-names'' from school who go by only one as adults.
I knew a few double names growing up. All were reform (meaning secular, ethnic, not truly religious but might go to temple a bit but always cry about it) jews.
I've been thinking of writing a book about my experiences with jews for a while. Maybe I should.
