But he supported it, and so did Johnson. And neither of them get any credit for it. Believe me, that lesson was learned well. Since then, every president has canceled the last guy’s space program.
The only reason we got the space shuttle is that the Air Force thought it’d have military value (hence the shuttle launch complex at vandanburg).
Nova (a larger Saturn v) cancelled. Venturestar/X-33, cancelled. Constellation, cancelled. Ares, cancelled. Artemis, cancelled. Ares, cancelled. And probably a bunch more that I’ve forgotten.
And now the rot of DEI has set in so they wouldn’t be able to build one even if it didn’t get canceled.
