My oldest son is autistic. Spending time with him has helped him learn more how to communicate and we have 4 more children to give him nonstop social interaction. Kids like him need a strong, understanding and supportive family unit to thrive and fall back on. He's improved immensely and taught himself to read.
He also happens to take the guidance we have given him this far as the gospel truth. Has it been hard to adapt to his unconventional behaviors as he's grown? However, I can't help but think he's going to be okay.
There seems to be a massive misdiagnosis of "autism." Every character I know is "autistic." If there were no "autists" the world would be a boring place.

You have a point.
